Paintings women with Animals

The connection between women and animals is a theme that spans across cultures, histories, and symbolic systems. It appears in mythology, folklore, literature, philosophy, ecofeminism, and even contemporary activism. This relationship is often layered with meanings—nurture, wildness, oppression, resistance, and kinship.

Women with Antlers and Ecofeminism

If women had antlers instead of hair, safety outcomes would
likely depend on how antlers changed social behavior,
perceptions, and physical dynamics—rather than just the antlers themselves.

Eco-Feminists points out that:

Dehumanization: Comparing women to cows, bitches, hens, or
other animals reduces them to bodily functions — reproduction,
nurturing, sexuality — rather than recognizing them as full humanbeings.

Nudes & Feminism

Feminist and Political Reclamation

In modern and contemporary art, the female body has also
been used as a site of protest, empowerment, and self-
expression. Many female artists—like Frida Kahlo, Judy Chicago,
or Jenny Saville—have reclaimed the depiction of the female
form to challenge beauty standards, gender norms, and power
structures.

Various

In this corner of the gallery, quiet tales unfold on smaller canvases. Each painting is an intimate window into the bond between women and animals—companionship, mystery, and a shared spirit of freedom. Some works whisper of gentle guardianship, others of wild beauty, and together they form a collection where grace meets instinct. These smaller pieces invite you closer, asking you to linger and discover the quiet power hidden in delicate strokes and tender scenes.

My story

I was born in a small town in the Netherlands, but my curiosity quickly pushed me beyond its borders. At a young age I moved to London, a city that became my anchor even as I lived in various countries, always finding my way back there.

Although I never formally trained as a painter, creativity has always shaped my life and career. In London I met my Italian husband, and today we live in Rome together with our Golden Retriever.

Under the name I.V. Everts, I have written several books, but eventually I felt drawn to painting. I began taking courses, and soon realized that painting is what I am truly meant to do. It is my passion, my purpose—and something I will never stop doing.

Where am I now

After taking many courses, I finally found the courage to approach curators and galleries. Like many artists, I was terrified that my work wouldn’t be taken seriously. To my surprise, I received encouragement and kind words instead of rejection. Since then, I’ve had the joy of exhibiting my work—and I’m now preparing for my third exhibition.

“Working with Van Woudenberg Art has been a truly uplifting experience. The attention to detail and creativity in every piece is unmatched.”
